Okay let's face it, we have all been there. I'm talking about when you are waiting all week for the weekend and what do you do? Nothing.. This may have been because your friends decided to cancel on you, that they remembered they had other plans, or if you are like me, you are extremely tired from working from the 9 hour shift you just finished. Finishing at 9.30 pm wasn't what I looked forward to after coming back from Corfu.
Anyhow, you're at home, it is Saturday night and you're at home. You may be playing your video games, watching a film or kicking it back with a well written book. In any case, the outfit stays the same. Some people may stay in their work uniform or pyjamas, but if you're like me and can't stand to wear that uniform anymore because today was too horrible, then here's what you should do.
You want to wear something casual, (obviously) there's no point wearing a suit as you dine with your game, film, book etc. but you want some comfort, that you can move easy in and won't cause you any uncomfortableness or strain. Now please take this the right way, do not wear a track suit, track suit bottoms or anything with the word track in them. As comfy as they are, they are how do you say "so 2009". So please throw away the tracksuit bottoms and find something that won't make you look like a slob. There's nothing worse when someone screenshots your snapchat because not only are you spending your staurday night speaking to them, but you're also wearing something that makes you look like a girl who's just broke up with her boyfriend and is about to open a tub of Ben and Jerry's, how embarrassing.
Accessories should also be out of the window (don't actually throw them out of the window). For an outfit this casual there shouldn't be any need for them. However do feel free to add some simple bracelets if you would like to.
Right let's stop with the stuff you don't need and start with the outfit which you do need. Your hair should be natural, but depending on the length of course. Having your hair natural allows you to relax and not feel the stiffness or greasiness of it which is what you want when relaxing. A t-shirt is essential for wearing at home, the ultimate casual look , don't wear your favourite tees and focus on wearing simple colours. NOT a vest, unless you want to hear another slob reference, again it's just unnecessary and you're not in the sun, you're inside so put the guns away. Something that is great to wear for a chilled evening is chinos (not track suit bottoms). Yes, some may say they went out of fashion 2/3 years ago, but they're much comfier and give a lot more slack than jeans. They're also good for that last minute getaway because they're still acceptable and formal for going out (unlike track suit bottoms). Lastly if you want to wear shoes, just in case those last minute plans take into effect. Personally I don't wear shoes around the house (most of the time) but if so it has to be something comfortable like the new balance. Slippers are also a good choice but you have to choose carefully.
